NEIW – National Ethical Investment Week
This week saw the launch of National Ethical Investment Week 2008. This brand new initiative, aiming to highlight the positive benefits of green and ethical investments marked the first time that the financial services industry has worked with others under the UKSIF umbrella to encourage consumer awareness of green and ethical investment choice.
A varied number of events, held in a number of locations across the UK, covered a range of issues from The Future of Ethical Investing, Investment for Charities, as well as Ethical Screening.
Among the above events a parliamentary reception was held at the House of Commons on Wednesday of this week to celebrate the arrival of NEIW. Kindly hosted by Hugh Bayley MP with guest speaker Mike O’Brien QC MP whose speech warmly welcomed the new ethically-driven approach to investment, the event was attended by journalists, parliamentarians and business directors as well as AIFA Director General, Chris Cummings. AIFA was pleased to its weight to the promotion of the calendar of NEIW events.
