Our profession
Scottish Widows is one of the UK's best known life and pension providers.

We've been around for over 200 years and, according to IPSOS*, more people trust us and are willing to deal with us than any other protection, pensions or investment provider.
As well as being one of the UK's best known providers, we're also one of the UK's financially strongest providers with a free-capital ratio of 25%.
The UK market offers many opportunities for us and we're continuing to invest heavily in our intermediary proposition:
We have recently launched and sponsored the Centre for the Modern Family website. The attitude to family is an issue about which many people have strong opinions. This opinion is very diverse. One of the first questions posed is whether the changes that our research has highlighted are a cause for celebration or concern?
Some people clearly believe that family form is not the important factor, and that function is much more crucial. Whereas others see the research as a symptom of the collapse of family values.
And that was why the Centre was set up - to provide the platform on which we can discuss these issues. Importantly, the Centre for the Modern Family is not about forming a unified view. It was for this reason that the Centre brought together such a broad panel, providing a range of voices and perspectives that reflect society as a whole.

- £33 million to develop our corporate pensions proposition, including the launch of mymoneyworks.co.uk.
- Continued development of our Retirement Account and additional resources to develop Governed Investment Strategies.
- Continued commitment to training and personal development for advisers, including RDR communications and other added-value services such as our Financial Planning and Business Consultancy support as well as the Scottish Widows Academy.
- Increased investment in our e-commerce platform
- A £12m investment in our customer service proposition.
